a4002585941_16This weeks featured artist, Amber Ladd, and her album eleKtro are having one hell of a month!

Our regular listeners are very familiar with the one and only Amber Ladd. She has been the featured artist of the week in the past, she dominated our Band vs Band segment in Gashouse Live, she has a new album eleKtro and she’s packed the few shows she has already had in Philadelphia. For those of you that aren’t yet familiar, here’s a little more info.

Amber Ladd, originally from Toronto, submitted her music at the very beginning of 2013. At that time, she was living in Boston and had released 2 excellent full length albums (tRip and it). She won 15 straight match-ups in Band vs Band, and made a few trips to Philadelphia to start expanding her reach.

Well it only took a few trips for Amber Ladd to connect to the Philadelphia music community. In July, she moved to Philadelphia full-time. Already with a third album in the works, Amber spent the second half of the year carefully crafting eleKtro. A successful Rockethub project, eleKtro was released on December 2nd.

elektroSo what do you do after you release an album? You have a release party of course! December 14th, upstairs at The Legendary Dobbs, please join us for the eleKtro Album Release Party! Amber will be joined by The Defused, The Good Excuses, and In the Presence of Wolves. We will be hosting the event so expect a lot of giveaways, and a hell of a good time.

The new album, eleKtro, is one great song after another. Amber’s style is unlike anything else we have on the station. While you could classify it as electronic, the music is much more complex than that. Even on the album, each song sounds completely different from one another, yet overall the album has a definite consistency. There is a ton of emotion throughout, and the amount of time perfecting each and every detail of the album really shines through.

In addition to the album release and the show at Dobbs on 12/14, Amber is a heavyweight contender in our Band vs Band Tournament of Champions, happening the entire month of December on Gashouse Live (weekdays 6pm ET). In the new year, Amber will be playing World Cafe Live with Amelia Scalies on January 12th and Le Grand Fromage (Atlantic City) on January 18th with a long list of excellent bands.

Just go to amberladd.com (awesome looking website by the way) for more info. You can sample some tracks from the new album eleKtro, and keep up with all upcoming shows. Amber Ladd will be in heavy rotation all week. You can hear a new song at the beginning of every Gashouse Live, and please join us this Saturday at Dobbs for the release party!
