music & memory

Hey Gashouse listeners, the Entertainment Marketing class at Saint Joseph’s University, along with their on-campus record label, 1851 Records are hosting a benefit concert for Music & Memory.

This non-profit organization will be collecting iPods for music therapy programs that help patients who suffer from Alzheimer’s and other cognitive conditions in nursing homes around Philadelphia. The benefit concert will be taking place on Friday, December 5th from 7-10PM at JD McGillicuddy’s in Manayunk. Music lovers that we all are, let’s band together and help make this event a success by donating all of our old iPods that are collecting dust in our drawers at home. Money, and giftcards will also be collected and raffled, and all proceeds will go directly to the organization.

On the first floor there will be an acoustic guitar singer and on the third floor there will be a DJ. The second floor will have raffles and giveaways. There is no cover charge but we encourage you to donate towards the cause!

Music is a powerful thing and research shows that listening to music brings back memories that may have once been lost. It can also help those suffering from cognitive disorders become more social and elevate their mood. For more information about Music & Memory, visit:
