She’s a F-ing survivor, and she definitely doesn’t need your F-ing problems; This week’s featured band is Roxy Rollz
Roxy Rollz may give off the “don’t mess with me” vibe, but their softer side often shows through being strong supporters of the Make a Wish Foundation. Roxy Rollz, in a nutshell, is kickass girl power punk rock with a keytar. With a sturdy rhythm section and vocals that shift from grit and dirt to silky and tender, this five piece band exudes originality. However coming from the small Jersey town of Cherry Hill, Roxy Rollz has had the pleasure of working with jazz icons Odean Pope(saxophone), Gerald Veasley(bass) and The Great Chico Huff(guitar), and producers Mitch Kricun(The Early November, The Dead Milkmen, Sheryl Crow, Will Smith), Peter Grosslight(Whitney Houston, Journey, The Eagles, Carly Simon).
Although occasionally reminiscent 90’s garage pop, Roxy Rollz’s sound is that of the current music age. But, don’t be surprised by a few 80’s classic covers thrown into the mix at their live shows. Roxy Rollz is currently concentrating on playing only Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey venues, so be sure to see them before they go on tour. Next up is this coming Saturday the 24th at Connie’s Ric Rac with Chromatropic, Dr. Beardface and the Spaceman, The Royal Noise, and Armani Lee. Check out the Facebook event page for more info.
