Sex, drugs, and rock & roll. Join this week’s featured band on the infinite quest for boundless pleasure and self-indulgence. Hello, Sucker.
In the words of front woman, Candi Vee, “Rock and Roll is a lifestyle. It’s very hedonistic and I like to reflect that in my music.” There is no doubt that Candi’s words fall short on her execution. Sucker’s raw and edgy blend of 80’s punk and head-banging heavy metal leave audiences feeling empowered. Their do-want-you-want-attitude is an added bonus to the already liberated fans.
Pat Benatar, The Pretty Reckless, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (for whom they opened for in April of 2014) are just a few influences of this dynamic 3-piece band. Sucker’s live shows, however, ooze a kind of dirty decadence that is all their own. Every night spectators are showered with lollipops, and one lucky lady is crowned (literally with a tiara) the “Amphetamine Queen” of the evening. I mean, who wouldn’t want that?
Sucker is currently only performing in the tri-state area. Don’t miss Sucker with Music Box Dynamo and HighKick for Gashouse Radio’s First Friday Showcase at Connie’s Ric Rac February 6th.
Tune in all this week to hear Sucker in heavy rotation. You can catch a track at the beginning of every Gashouse Live (weeknights 6pm ET). If you like what you hear, please use the thumbs up/down buttons to share your opinion. Check out the links below for more info. See you Friday!
