Forming within the campus dorms of Slippery Rock University in 2006, featured band Wine & Spirit are now highly respected among the Pittsburgh music scene.
Roomies Paul Joseph (vocals, guitar, harmonica) and Derek Ruby (bass, vocals) came up with the name after glancing at a Pennsylvania liquor store sign while out on a booze run. Like most college graduates nowadays, four piece Wine & Spirit tucked away their degrees in order to pursue what they really love-making music, and I’d say they’re doing a pretty good job. Wine & Spirit is a healthy combination of classic rock n’ roll and modernized blues. Their alternative edge and solid performances ultimately led them to their 2012 Pittsburgh X Winter Rock Showcase triumph, and in turn a widespread fan base from Philly and New York to Indianapolis and Chicago.
Wine & Spirit are currently in the process of recording their fourth studio album, and gearing up for their Keystone Chaos Tour. The tour begins with Gashouse Radio’s very own open mike night at the Roadhouse Inn this coming Thursday. Additionally, join Wine & Spirit at Connie’s Ric Rac June 5th with Kings & Comrades, Blueheart Revival, and Paul Kurrey for our First Friday Showcase.
Don’t forget to tune in all this week to hear Wine & Spirit in heavy rotation. You can catch a track at the beginning of every Gashouse Live (Tuesday/Thursday 7pm ET).
