As stated by the Detroit Metro Times, “Think the ’50s punkabilly of The Cramps and the breezy pop brilliance of The Beach Boys, all mixed up in a Boone’s Farm warehouse.” The Kickstand Band is the perfect pick for an end-of-summer featured artist.

100% DIY duo from Detroit, The Kickstand Band has been performing and recording in their hometown since the Halloween of 2011. Gordon Smith and Alison Young released their debut album, Puppy Love, in November 2012 displaying their care-free surf vibe and effortless vocals. The band expanded their music catalogue in July 2013 with their five track Summer Means Fun EP, featuring solid boy/girl harmonies, focused songwriting, and even better production.

The Kickstand Band is currently on a cross country tour- their next stop Gashouse Radio’s own First Friday Showcase September 4th at Connie’s Ric Rac with Line Leader, The Escape, and Stetson Rose. The Kickstand Band’s discography is available for free streaming and download at Bandcamp, so be sure to turn the volume up and roll down your windows.

Listen to Gashouse all this week to hear The Kickstand Band in heavy rotation. You can also catch a track at the beginning of every Gashouse Live (Tuesday/Thursday 7pm ET).
