five dollar festival

On August 16, 2014 Hard Rock Cafe Philadelphia & DCS Concerts will host a “festival-style” concert featuring a stacked lineup including Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad (Rochester, NY), The Manhattan Project (Rochester, NY), Fear Nuttin Band (Boston, MA), The Underwater Sounds (Philadelphia, PA), and Reef’d (Philadelphia, PA).

“The goal of this event is to provide a stellar show at a low cost to concertgoers and fans.” says Ben Davis, president of DCS Concerts and talent buyer for Hard Rock Cafe Philadelphia.

The lineup is solid, a bill that should cost $12 or $15; but on August 16 at Hard Rock its only $5!

five dollar festivalGiant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad
Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad (PANDA!) is a quintet from Rochester, NY. Their psychedelic roots reggae album “In These Times” made iTunes Best of 2012 list. Over the past six years, PANDA! has performed 800 shows, put out a collection of live albums, and released a roots Americana record titled “Country” (2012).

The Manhattan Project
Since exploding on to the scene in 2010, The Manhattan Project has become one of the fastest growing live electronic duos in the northeast and beyond. TMP continues their sonic-boomtronic assault in 2014, blowing up clubs, amphitheaters, festival main stages, and after-parties across the country! Drawing influences from house, dub, drum n bass, techno, and lounge, The Manhattan Project brings sophistication to the dance floor with their original compositions, high energy beats and mind melting textures. Armed with an arsenal of keyboards, synths, electronic and acoustic percussion, they seamlessly merge analog and digital sounds without the use of on-stage computers, resulting in a sonic style all their own.

Fear Nuttin Band
The Fear Nuttin Band sound is as diverse as the cultures the band members represent. The hot West Indian sun incubated the talents of frontmen Roosta (vocals), Prowla (vocals) and Jay Chung (guitar), while instrumentalists Matt Penza (drums), Chris Regan (guitar), Brian Daigle (bass) represent New England’s finest. The union of these six individuals was in the stars: with Chris, Jay, Penza and Brian lending their musical talents to heavy bands all over the Pioneer Valley, the four always found themselves in and out of bands together. It was the same day that Matt, Chris and Brian found themselves without a frontman that Roosta and Prowla called up and asked them to jam. These final Fear Nuttin Band members have been together since.

Hard Rock Cafe Philadelphia has been hosting live music events regularly since its renovation & expansion were completed in late 2012.  A wide array of talent has occupied the stage at 12th & Market including Marcia Ball, Ballyhoo!, Ronnie Laws, Mayer Hawthorne (DJ Set), Chill Moody, various members of Celtic Thunder, and Authority Zero just to name a few.  The room is one of the most intimate in the city and pumps a fully digital sound system.  The full menu (which Hard Rock has just re-vamped) and drink specials are available during all live shows.  The venue also validates parking at The Standard Parking garage located at 11th & Filbert!
