Tonight we host the Open Jam at The Legendary Dobbs at 8pm, so Gashouse Live will be a very short show, jam packed with great new music.
If you’ve never been to an open jam at Dobbs, now is your chance. Every Tuesday night Dobb’s opens it’s doors to all musicians looking to play. Each week there is a different host (we host every 3rd Tuesday). There is a full backline so you can just show up, sign up, and play. Its great way to get your foot in the door with Dobbs, and with Gashouse Radio.
You don’t have to play to attend! There is no cover, and there is a bar full of musicians and people who love live music. There are drink specials, including $2 PBRs and $4 shots of Jack. I’ve been going to these events for awhile, and they are always a good time; you never know who will attend.
So tonight, tune in to Gashouse Live at 6pm ET for a quick rundown of the new music on The Radar. Then, head over to The Legendary Dobbs, 304 South St in Philadelphia! Sign-ups start at 8pm, and the music starts at 9pm. Now here are the bands we will be debuting today on Gashouse Radio:
2blk2wht: 2blk2wht is a Philadelphia prog rock band with post-hardcore leanings. We just released our debut EP in January. Check us out and drop us a tip for pizza money. Our amps run on 100% pizza power.
Dope Soda: A Canadian band of highly accomplished musicians playing music that is difficult to put into 1 genre. There are definite influences of ska, reggae and punk, but Dope Soda is a very dynamic band. Currently the band is on tour n Canada, but hopefully they will make their way to Philly because this is a great band I would love to see live. They debuted yesterday on The Radar and they were the highest voted band of the day, so they are back for a 2nd appearance. Go to dopesoda.com for more info.
Jay Regan: Philly local singer-songwriter Jay Regan who has been on the Philly scene for a number of years as the solo guitarist and vocalist Just Jay. Jay recently began performing his original material and is in the process of recording songs to appear on his debut CD in 2014. Jay was former lead singer & song writer of the Philly area heavy metal bands April Fool, Dezire, and Today we Live in the early to mid 90’s.
Layers And Frames: Philadelphia based Layers And Frames is ambient rock inspired by singer-songwriter Frederic Brewer’s journey of five years through China, France and The United States. Catch the live trio at Legendary Dobbs on Friday, February 7th and at JR’s Bar on Sunday, March 9th! Get a free download of “Take Control,” by Layers And Frames, at Layers And Frames dot com!
House of Not: House of Not: combines storytelling and music to create a compelling five part Rock Odyssey. So what’s the story? Nexteris 18, feeling a little brainwashed, a little heartbroken and a bit downtrodden. The forces from above, (boss? parents? the Man? the System?) are pushing down hard. What’s a guy to do but…Take The Trip. “The Walkabout of A. Nexter Niode” is a rock odyssey about that trip. Is there a woman? Yes. Is there a vicious, powerful oppressor standing in the way? Definitely! He’s called Schadenfreude, and he is virtually in the news everyday (one dude or another, interchangeable really). So if you feel like taking the trip, join the #Wayfarer Nexter and his lovely muse Silk, in their journey to the House of Not.
Beyond Eden: The newest signed band to acclaimed Grammy nominated producer David Ivory’s FlexiTone records, Beyond Eden, is set to release their long awaited EP this spring. Their hard rock theater style sound is in a genre of its own.
So tune in tonight at 6pm ET to Gashouse Live. We will be playing the third round of our segment The Radar, and then we will be heading over to The Legendary Dobbs, We hope to see you in the chat room and over at Dobbs!
