SINGLE: What I Need
While it is true many feel the music industry is in disarray it’s always a breath of fresh air to hear a new artist that’s not afraid to take chances with their musical expression. New York based Casinova right away gives off that very approachable Americana-Dance-Pop look many of us simply can’t get enough of via his latest single “What I Need.” Add in some uptown swagger, a heavy beat, sexy lyrics, some nice abs, a tight t-shirt, nice voice – well I’m rambling here. I think you get my point.
With his latest musical offering “What I Need” it’s clear to me Casinova has surpassed what many of us consider to be the a-typical musical release for 2013. This piece has a strong musical foundation. From the beginning to end “What I need’ gives you an amazing soulful wake-up call that captures the essence of true dance pop and a classic Modern-day Americana-Soul. It also delivers an addictively inviting groove that will keep you entertained but all the while tug you to get out on the dance floor. All of this has the trademarks of vintage Dance-Pop. Beyond this Casinova combines many impressive musical styles: like Blues, R&B, Folk, Americana and Traditional Americana Pop Rock.
Digging a bit deeper I can even hear influences from Mo-Town, and Old time Pop-Soul Rock. Musical influences may be: Usher, Ready for the World, Heavy D and the Boys, Boys to Men and Kriss Kross. “What I Need” definitely expands the possibilities of a radio hit in the making. The production is top notch and the playing from all the behind the scenes musicians just hits the spot. Casinova creates a sound that will make virtually any listener feel right at home. As a vocalist Casinova delivers an amazing baritone that glides with smooth precision. He delivers an array of impressive vocal snippets that show much in the way of masculine confidence armed with a good look, a smooth vocal timber, and clean cut athletic look. (More of this on the video) Much of this goes beyond traditional playing and songwriting. Casinova (like the name implies) has strong X-Factor.
You don’t have to hear him sing a single note to fall in love with him, or what to hang with him. Lyrics are also an important component for me whenever I listen and/or review music. In this aspect Casinova paints an impressive seductive themed love song between the spoken word and all the goo that is Dance Pop. “What I Need” delivers an exhilarating piece for the senses that has no boundaries – very much like America-Dance-Pop itself.
