Gashouse Live’s Tournament of Champions continues today at 6pm ET! This tournament involves 20 of our listeners’ favorite bands from 2013 in a single-elimination bracket (click to view the bracket). The tournament goes throughout the month of December, and the finals are on December 30th. The bands are competing for bragging rights, and the champion ring (I heard its more valuable than a Super Bowl ring in some circles). Here is todays match-up.
Copper Lungs: We first met this band in the Band vs Band segment back in June, and their song Chasing Lights is now one of the highest voted songs of the year. This Scottish band released their debut album in March, and you can pick it up on iTunes. You can also follow the band on Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.
Tungsten: This Philadelphia prog rock band have a new album coming out in January called The Reservoir. One track off the album, Contamination, was the highest voted song last month. They defeated Johnny Neutrino and the Secret Weapon in the first round of the tournament, and today they look to extend that streak into the quarter-finals. Find more info at tungstenphilly.com.
We’ve got 3 songs from both bands today at 6pm ET on Gashouse Live. We need you to listen to the songs and vote using the thumbs up button on our player page (thumbs down votes will not count during the tournament, because these bands are already well established on the station). Your votes will determine which band moves on to face Magnificent Birds of Prey on December 13th.
In addition to the tournament, Twin Ghost will be in studio for an interview and maybe a few acoustic songs. So be sure to join myself, Krantz, Brooke and Charlie for Gashouse Live, 6-10pm ET tonight!
