johnny showcase

This week our featured band, Johnny Showcase and the Lefty Lucy Cabaret, is also debuting  on Gashouse Radio.

We’ve been hearing about Johnny Showcase for quite sometime, but for whatever reason we have yet to cross paths. This Philadelphia 8-piece have played all over the city, leaving crowds talking about the performance for week to follow. They’re a funk / psychadelic soul group like you’ve never seen. sometimes the performance will remind you of a Vegas lounge act, while others times it is full out funk. Absurd is the adjective used all over their Facebook page, making this a live act in Philadelphia that you really have to see to understand.

johnny showcaseThis Friday you have a chance to see Johnny Showcase (& the Mystic Ticket) at Connie’s Ric Rac as part of the First Friday Funk / Nasty. Again, I have heard nothing but great things about Johnny Showcase live, so don;t miss this event. Plus it’s a chance to check out the new and improved Connie’s Ric Rac. Tickets are $10 and the show starts at 9pm ET. Dancing shoes required.

Johnny Showcase and the Lefty Lucy Cabaret will be in heavy rotation this week. We’ve got a few songs from their debut album Love is the Message, co-produced with Henry Hirsch (Lenny Kravitz, Mick Jagger). We’ve also got a few from their 2012 self-produced EP Mystic Ticket I: The Pump Fake. Because this is also the debut of Johnny Showcase, you can also hear 3 tracks on Monday as part of our segment The Radar. We use this segment to debut all new music that comes into the station, and it airs at 9am, 2pm, and 6pm during Gashouse Live.

The albums are available on iTunes and Amazon. Just go to johnnyshowcase.com for more information and show dates. Tune in all week to sample some tracks from Johnny Showcase, and don’t miss Gashouse Live, weekdays 6pm ET. And for God’s sake join us at Connie’s Ric Rac this Friday, March 7th!
