It’s easy to know how to categorize a band like Lovebite. This English 4 member band is about to release their latest CD entitled “Lock N’ Load’ And I was able to get an awesome  sneak peak. This band seems to be making all the right moves thus far just recently added to the Spectra Records line up Having established themselves in record time as one of the UKs premier up-and-coming glam/sleaze bands with their heart-pounding and high-minded debut album ‘LOCK ‘N’ LOAD’– Lovebite deliver an uncharacteristic fusion of hard, thrashy guitars and unique songwriting techniques, with a limber rhythm section that keeps the music loose yet powerful… and HIGHLY addictive. With the zeitgeist dictating that the relevance of an album as an art form is under close scrutiny, debut album LOCK ‘N’ LOAD is a superlative, rip-roaring triumph that simply must be experienced from start to finish. Jonny Sparks (Vocals/Guitar), Tryx – (Lead Guitar), KC Valentine (Bass), Mikey Toye (Drums). Round out the line-up.


“Lock N’ Load” is one of the more hot to trot hard rocking, hard loving and partying brightly flavored rock releases I’ve heard this year. It’s not so dark and apocalyptic steeped in the fog of shock rock but it does have a small dose of Motley Crue. This latest release has got some sold melodies and impressive musicianship to boot – which and hard rocking flair that’s a rarity in today music. Not only are these 4 rock solid musicians, their contributions to the writing and arrangements of all songs is of equal  importance. Which is to say nothing of the infections and contagious chemistry they all share on stage no doubt. OK so maybe there’s nothing really new or cutting edge here that hasn’t been done before per say, but don’t let that fool you. This latest CD will remind you of Motley Crue, Bulletboys, Whitesnake, and Dokken. It’s not moody or too serious; it’s quite the opposite evident from the outset as it doesn’t take itself too seriously within the first few track “No Turning Back” and Sin City” which are both superlative numbers that get the party started right. Sparks and company are great rock revivalists, that others (like myself) will lobby hard for.


This band can jam, write and play well. Music is a colorful combination of 90’s Alternative Hard Rock with a bit of that classic 80’s Glam Metal. Music and lyrics are all rich in humor laced satire poking fun at the world and full of casual observations. As vocalist Sparks recalls the higher-registries as well and mesh well together harmoniously with other members. Lovebite  have a solid sound that reminds me of both old school Rock n Roll yet with a modern day Punk feel. Tack 3 Breakin’ the Rules” is another full tilt piece with vocal sonic tandems that really tag team the point across. ”Mr. Lonely” develops well into top flight melodic phrasing and thickly laced harmonies. Some tracks are more pop-inflected however all are hard-rock driven rather than the typical synth-pop posturing we’ve all come to expect. All of this plays into Lovebite and their unique spin on life and overall sensibility. This comical spin on the world that can jar even the most staunch of listeners. While it’s easy enough to imagine how wonderful a CD like “Lock N’ Load” truly is you really have to hear it for yourself. Hear a bonus FREE track via the above link.


It’s safe to say much of today’s Rock is made up entirely of yawning ambient beats, sparse musicianship and superficial vocals. Some of these intangibles reflect the artists themselves and the state of the music industry itself. Much of it is built of a house of cards that has become the quintessential pop persona. Where am I going with all this? None of the above applies to Lovebite because what you see is what you get. No smoke and mirrors just real good and quirky music. Lock N’ Load is an impressive release from a very likable 4 piece from Birmingham, ENG. In the end it’s great to see 4 guys expose real gonads to the world by letting down their hair and let her rip.
