Taking a final bow, this week’s featured band is The Great SOCIO
After three studio albums, incessant touring, and five years of perfecting their music prowess, The Great SOCIO has confessed to losing their passion and recently decided to call it quits. Alternative groove rock was their forte, but their trumpet wielding frontman set them apart from anything in the Philadelphia main stream. Insightful lyrics, deep bass lines, and neurotic synthesizers emanate strong influences of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, and The Mars Volta. Performing four times at 2014’s SXSW, committing to a two part web series called The Drummer, and raising over $17,000 on Kickstarter to support the release of their two most recent albums; The Great SOCIO’s potential is and was immense. It is a sad to see a band as creative and innovative as them ultimately leave the music scene. It’s evident that fans are devastated, but in the words of The Great SOCIO, “it’s time to build something beautiful.”
On Friday December 26th, The Great SOCIO will play their last show at World Café Live for WMMR’s Mistletoe Jam. Limited tickets are available, but pre-order now and you’ll receive a free shirt from The Great SOCIO.
