You may be “all talk and no game,” but Neat Meat sure isn’t.
If you don’t know who I’m talking about, then you’re not listening to Gashouse Radio as much as you should. Indie dance-rock duo, Neat Meat, has already been featured plenty at Connie’s Ric Rac and Gashouse Live within the past few years. And, yes, we are featuring them again because we love them so much.
Formed from the streets of Philadelphia in early 2011, Neat Meat was originally planned as Even Man Out’s Palimo Lopez’s side project. Being that Palimo currently resides in Phoenix, AZ and Lydia Bianchi in Brooklyn, NY; Neat Meat constructs most of their writing and recording online. There are only a few rare occurrences a year that Neat Meat returns to their homeland to perform live for select audiences.
Influenced by Cults, Ween, Cake, Of Montreal, Paul Simon, Ice Cube, and The Kinks; Neat Meat is a marriage of synth-pop, hip-hop rhythms, and melodic vocal lines. Hardy, full, dancy, and just down-right jazzy at times. Their ten track album “THICK,” released January 2013, is available for free streaming and download at neatmeat.bandcamp.com
With all that in mind, Neat Meat will be playing the Italian Market Festival Saturday May 16th at 4:30pm on the Gashouse Stage. For the full lineup and more festival info check out gashouseradio.com/imfest2015-lineup. Additionally, if you happen to be in Brooklyn on Friday May 15th, do yourself a favor and check out their show at The Legion.
Neat Meat plans on recording new material and scheduling shows within the Philadelphia region during the summer, but until then don’t forget to tune in all this week to hear their tunes in heavy rotation. You can catch a track at the beginning of every Gashouse Live (Tuesday/Thursday 7pm ET). If you like (or hate) what you hear, please share your opinion by using the thumbs up/down buttons.
